Creating content can make something feel like a mountain too high to climb. Here are 3 proven ways to generate unlimited content ideas for your business. But before we dive in, remember these:

  1. “Good artists copy; great artists steal.” - Pablo Picasso

  2. “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” - Ecclesiastes 1:9

These quotes remind us of the value of researching, repurposing and improving upon what already works.

1/ Gold mine

The “Gold mine” method is like having a personal treasure trove of content inspiration. In this method, you create and organize “swipe files” – collections of highly engaging content from various sources.

There are 2 types of gold mines:

  1. List of resources: Maintain a list of blogs, YouTube channels, creators, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. that post compelling and resonating content.

  2. List of posts: Save specific posts from these resources that strongly resonate with you and can be repurposed or improved upon.

2/ Gold bar & gold nuggets

This method draws inspiration from the marketing/sales strategies of drug dealers who use high-quality “samples” to hook addict clients.

Here’s how you can apply:

Take premium sections or lessons from your courses, webinars or training materials and share them as valuable, standalone content.

You have to put out your best content for free.

This generates interest and drives potential clients to purchase your full offerings.

3/ Golden goose

Sometimes, certain creators produce content that is so outstanding that it's almost impossible to improve. For example:

The "Golden Goose" method involves leveraging such content by:

Summarize those contents and add your unique take, then link back to the original source.

Answer questions on Quora

💸 Cost: Low
💪🏻 Effort: Medium
🎩 Stage: Awareness

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Answer questions related to the problem you solve.

  • Answer the questions like how you answer your friends/clients.

  • Voice record → use AI to transcribe and write → edit → post. (shortcut use this tool)

  • Whenever possible, include hyperlink to your landing page, website or lead magnet.

Apply for business award

💸 Cost: Medium
💪🏻 Effort: Medium
🎩 Stage: Awareness

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Search for industry-related awards.

  • Apply. Pay some fee.

  • Plaster those awards on your website, social media, and office walls.

Note: I’m not too fond of this strategy because, most of the time, your competitors are the ones who know and care about the awards, not your prospects/clients.

Ask customers for referrals

💸 Cost: Low
💪🏻 Effort: Low
🎩 Stage: Referrals

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Email, text, call or WhatsApp your clients that are happy with the results.

  • Send them this. “I am looking for a new client. Do you have any friends in your industry who could use my help?"

  • Now, wait.

Note: It’s so simple but I am not sure why people don’t do this.
